It is easy to fall into a pattern of taking the things we value for granted, getting past this and regularly realising how lucky we are helps us to be happier. Today I’m going to look at how practicing negative visualisation has helped me to become more grateful and appreciative of things in my life.
We can all get stressed at different times and by different things and this can in the worst case drastically affect our health and life expectancy, or in the best of cases make our day to day lives more difficult and unpleasant for the duration of the stress.
A lot of my friends always tell me about how stressed they are and how difficult it can be to cope with such heightened worry and difficult life situations. There are plenty of things that psychology and ancient traditions have taught us that can help with such situations but according to this great TED Talk by Dr Kelly McGonical the way we look at the idea of stress can affect the impact it has upon us.
To me this is an astoundingly refreshing way to view something that can affect us all and shows that through the attention we pay to things we can have a bigger impact on our reality than perhaps we previously thought.

If you’ve ever had it bad you know anxiety is a bitch. Stressful situations are supposed to cause anxiety; a reaction we’ve evolved with and one which has been useful for us to continue the species. What I’m talking about is the type of anxiety which can develop in the absence of any seriously stressful situations. The anxiety that we seem to get for no reason that can feel like someone is throttling your soul. Continue reading
We go through life with various things that get in our way, things that trip us up and can sometimes change our path; often these are things over which our control level equals something close to zero and this can be a worry and sometimes upsetting thing for us. What we want in life can often seem like it is on the other side of a raging torrent. Continue reading
“Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking.” ~ Marcus Aurelius Antoninus
Happiness can’t be searched for, it is something that we all already have within us. Our culture has developed in such a way that we are no longer able to recognise this, we expend so much energy looking without to find what is already within. Continue reading
